The Challenges of Plein Air Painting in the Rain, July 22, 2010
by Julie Janzen on 7/28/2010 7:44:57 PM

The effects of rain drops.
This is the start of an on location painting at Exner Marsh, Lake in the Hills, IL on July 22. The rain drops washed away the color in the areas that where still thinned with Gamsol. The oil painting(10"x8") will be finished in the studio, the effects of the rain drops will be covered.

The rain drops have created an interesting affect but it is my feeling that the painting looks unfinished and can not be left as such.  It has been suggested by a few to leave it, or "work with it".

Any suggestions/thoughts?

Until next time!

Julie Janzen
